Clubs and pundits are unhappy with the restructuring of the league.
In late December, the FAI announced plans for the restructuring of the League of Ireland.
The Premier Division would be cut from 12 to a 10 team league from next season.
First division clubs had no say in the decision, so in effect, only a minority of the clubs had a say in the plans.
The league has previous in this before, between 2002 – 2004 there was a 10 team league and, again from 2009 – 2011
Clubs play each other a minimum of four times a year and under the 10 team format, clubs will play each other every nine weeks instead of every 11 weeks under the 12 team format.
